We've finally finished getting our apartment all together!

Here's the tour:

The entry.

As you walk in, straight ahead is the kitchen.

Behind the kitchen is the office.

Bedroom and bathroom are to the right.

(The bathroom looks about the same as it did before, so no new pictures.)  And because the bathroom is so small, David learned what a vanity is and said I could get one :)

Adventures in Cambridge & Boston

We had to register the car in Massachusetts - so I "surrendered" my California license (i.e. they took it from me and left me without i.d. until the new one arrived in the mail....

 ...and we changed the plates.

We kept the California plates for future use :)

I got a haircut - thanks to Rachel for recommending where to go!

For David's birthday, we went to dinner in the North End (Italian section of Boston).

We walked down to Quincy Market.

David responded to Andrew's birthday text :)

And, on Friday, we went to the Red Sox game vs. the Bluejays!

The fans are hilarious.  

Unfortunately, the videos wouldn't load, but I did take video of the fans singing "Sweet Caroline" and hitting a bunch of beach balls (like kids do at graduations...).

The next adventure was kind of sad... there are two days a month in our area when they do street sweeping and I parked on the wrong side of the street.  So the car got towed and we had to take a bus to go get it at "Pat's Towing" :(

And not only do they tow your car, but they are kind enough to give you a parking violation as well (see ticket on windshield).

We kind of miss Davis where street sweepers just go around the parked cars.  But I learned my lesson!

Cambridge, MA - our temporary home

We arrived in Cambridge on Wednesday morning, September 1st

This is the Charles River.  It runs between Boston and Cambridge.

David's former roommate was kind enough to let us borrow a futon since we didn't have any furniture (the Door to Door arrived on Saturday, the 4th).

Cross Country Tour - Colorado to Massachusetts

After our tour of national parks, we were off to see Jim in Denver!

But we forgot to take a picture with him :(

But we did get a picture of the Capitol building :)

This is what we felt like between Denver and Chicago (the bottom sign, not the top one).

After an hour-long train ride from the hotel...we made it into the Windy City!

We decided to walk down to Michigan Ave. ("The Magnificent Mile")

It was beautiful at nighttime.

The next morning, after church, we decided to try and find my dad's old house where they lived when he was in high school.

We think this is the house they lived in!  

The owner decided to take her daily stroll with her walker up and down the driveway as we were driving by.  So I took the picture when she was on the way back up :)

We left Chicago and made our way through the north part of Indiana.  We decided Indiana is our 50th favorite state in the nation.  It took us all of an hour to drive through, and we experienced terrible traffic, road construction and a very scary McDonald's.

I wish we had counted, but we probably stopped at 25 McDonald's restaurants on our trip... we knew they would have a bathroom and iced coffee.

We went through Indiana into Michigan and then to the border with Canada.  We thought they might not let us in because we had a hard time proving David was a student without his ID (we lost his wallet in Hawaii) and because I had pepper spray, which is apparently an illegal weapon in Canada and they will send you to jail if you use it ... who knew?

But we made it to Niagara Falls!  And had the most amazing hotel room and view ever.  Here's David enjoying it.

We went to see it up close, too.

And this is "Horseshoe Falls."  This is the part that people have gone over.

They give everyone ponchos so you don't get too wet.

This video is of the Horseshoe falls - it's absolutely amazing how powerful the water is going over the falls.

The next day we were off to New York!  But just driving through on our way to Massachusetts.  We waved at Kristina :)

I know it's a terrible picture, but you only get one chance at these kinds of things and the camera wouldn't focus on the sign because there were too many bugs on the windshield :)
