Last weekend, David had a conference in Washington D.C. And since the tickets were so cheap from Boston, I tagged along! We had a great time seeing all the sights (though I saw more sights than David...)
And we enjoyed seeing my cousin, Danny.
Thursday
David's conference was at The Mayflower Hotel.
While he went to his conference, I wandered around and found the White House! This is the "North Side." Apparently a president received the Queen of England from this side, so you can't call it "the back." :)
The Treasury Building, next to the White House.
Washington Monument
The Holocaust Museum
The National Archives
David in his conference attire at the National Archives.
Me in front of the IRS building :(
The EPA - looks like they're doing a really good job protecting the environment
outside their own building...
Friday
The Capitol - some fall colors were still left!
The Supreme Court
On the steps of the Supreme Court
Union Station
Memorial for the Japanese-American Internment during WWII.
At the Air and Space Museum. I guess this is what Lucille Ball looked like when she flew.
An A-4, like what my grandpa flew.
Amelia Earhart's plane
The Wright Brothers' plane
American History Museum - Dorothy's Ruby Slippers
Funny quote :)
In front of the Washington Monument...it was very dark...
View of the Lincoln Memorial from the Washington Monument at night.
Saturday
On Saturday, we got to take a tour of the East Wing of the White House (thanks to my cousin :)
My cousin and me outside the White House.
While David was at his conference, I went to the National Gallery of Art
And I saw a ton of paintings!
Recognize this gentleman?
Then I wanted to see the monuments/memorials.
This is the new (2004) World War II memorial.
Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool (the water was kind of yucky - someone said they let it drain so it doesn't freeze over...)
President Lincoln
On Sunday, we came back home!
